Patient Name:   Sylvester Cole
Age:                   63
Surgeon:
Dr. Nicholas Augelli

Procedure:        Triple bypass on a beating heart
Date:                  March 22, 2010

I am very happy with this procedure.”

Before my bypass surgery, I was to the point that my legs were locking up. I couldn’t walk anymore; I was just too tired and it hurt too much.  Every activity had become too difficult. I couldn’t catch my breath and they had given me oxygen, but I didn’t use it.

When I met Dr. Augelli, he said that I had coronary artery disease and needed to have bypass surgery. I was admitted to the hospital and had open-heart surgery on March 22, 2010. They opened my chest through a sternotomy, and took two veins out of my leg for two of the grafts. The third bypass came from an artery in my chest. Dr. Augelli did not stop my heart while he was performing the procedure.

The surgery went very well and I was released from the hospital just three days later on March 25. I was a little sore for a few days, but I was up and walking around as soon as I returned home. After three weeks, I was able to walk several blocks and with absolutely no pain. My legs don’t hurt when I walk. I have more energy. I am so thankful for Dr. Augelli and his team. I am very happy with the surgery.
